Soup Kitchen Program Coordinator

Our Place Waldorf is looking for a Program Coordinator to help run our twice-weekly soup kitchen. This part-time position will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the soup kitchen, including organizing volunteers and fostering a welcoming environment for our guests. DESCRIPTION: The Our Place Waldorf Soup Kitchen Program Coordinator will help to manage the flow of dinner service at Our Place Waldorf. A successful candidate should: understand and manage the day-to-day business inside the soup kitchen; have strong customer service and organizational skills; must be timely and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment; foster a welcoming, productive, and safe environment, sensitive to the needs of guests; ensure volunteers are placed in appropriate roles and that each station is properly manned; oversee the workings of the kitchen, the food distribution, and donated goods distribution; represent the Soup Kitchen during food distribution hours; report to and communicate regularly and effectively with Executive Director; and open for dinner service at 3:00 and close at 7:00 on Mondays and Thursdays. The Program Coordinator will oversee volunteers; maintain an attendance tracking system; assign duties and enforce protocols; coordinate set-up, meal execution, and clean-up; assist with duties wherever needed; and adhere to all Department of Health Services requirements. The Program Coordinator will maintain the Soup Kitchen’s food closet; organize and track inventory; coordinate with external partners; communicate and maintain relationships with meal sponsors; determine dinner menus; and grocery shop for meals as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

A successful candidate must be physically mobile and able to lift up to 50lbs; have a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and your own vehicle to use for grocery shopping (mileage reimbursement is available). Management or coordinator experience is preferred. Position is expected to involve 15-20 hours per week, including mandatory attendance at our Monday and Thursday dinners from 3:00 to 7:00pm. Other hours are flexible and include administrative duties such as phone calling, coordinating volunteer hours and dinner sponsors as well as meal scheduling, food pantry organization, and grocery shopping.
